Behold, I have received a command to bless; When He has blessed, I cannot revoke it.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, “I will never be moved.” LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed. To You, LORD, I called, And to the Lord I pleaded for compassion: “What gain is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? “Hear, LORD, and be gracious to me; LORD, be my helper.” You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have untied my sackcloth and encircled me with joy, That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
The LORD will answer and say to His people, “Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine, and oil, And you will be satisfied in full with them; And I will never again make you a disgrace among the nations.
So shout for joy, you sons of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the early rain for your vindication. And He has brought down for you the rain, The early and latter rain as before. The threshing floors will be full of grain, And the vats will overflow with the new wine and oil. “Then I will compensate you for the years That the swarming locust has eaten, The creeping locust, the stripping locust, and the gnawing locust— My great army which I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied, And you will praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; Then My people will never be put to shame.
“ It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy, Your old men will have dreams, Your young men will see visions.
And it will come about that everyone who calls on the name of the LORD Will be saved; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, Just as the LORD has said, Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.
We have seen political unrest
We have gone through a season of economic recession
We have seen businesses dry up
We have had sickness
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
I. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The Holy Spirit is your Comforter.
The Holy Spirit is your Teacher.
The Holy Spirit reminds you of the Words God has spoken.
Romans 14:17 Says that He brings you Joy.
II. WHAT’S UP WITH SPEAKING IN TONGUES?
I Corinthians 13:8-10
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.
For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter responded, “Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”
And when Paul had laid hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.
III. WHY SHOULD I BE FILLED?
Believe the Word of Jesus. (they had to obey the word to go to Jerusalem Acts 1).
You have to be in one mind (no division, everyone wants the same thing).
IV. HOW CAN I BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Act 2:38 says you have to Repent
Galatians 3:2 says it cannot be received by works but must be received by faith.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Acts 8:17 says that Peter and John laid hands on the other apostles and they received the Holy Spirit (Don’t worry if you don’t believe it will happen I do).
