20/20 Vision Part 1
January 12, 2020
2 Peter 3:17-18
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, but happy is he who keeps the law – Proverbs 29:18 NASB
Vision gives pain a purpose.
Habakkuk 2:2-3
Then the Lord told me: “I will give you my message in the form of a vision. Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance. At the time I have decided, my words will come true. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time, but keep on waiting— it will happen!
“A man without a vision is a man without a future. A man without a future will always return to his past.”
(P.K. Bernard)
However Pain is a part of growth and moving forward.
I. A Vision Of Growth Multiplies And Intensifies Our Pain.
God never wastes our pain.
Anything that grows experiences some pain
Often the difference between WHERE I AM and WHERE GOD WANTS ME to be is the PAIN I’M UNWILLING TO ENDURE
II. Not Everything That Is Faced Can Be Changed But Nothing Can Be Changed Until It Is Faced.
The devil wants to frustrate you, harass you and wear you out.
When we remain dry for a long season, the desert often expands to the people around us and who depend on us.
Spiritual vitality begins with a renewed FOCUS on Christ himself
III. To Live, Something Has To Die.
Then comes a series of challenging test meant to BEAT THE FLESH out of me so I don’t explode with pride when I get to the next level
You will be forever in the control of things you can’t give up
Passion is about suffering for what you love
Liminal Space is a concept in theology and psychology.
Essentially, it is the hallway between the past and the future.
There is a pain to birth, a pain to build and a pain to grow.
