I Kings 17:1-7
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “ As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
- Elijah Needed A Miracle Called Rain
We’ve probably spent more time waiting for the miracle than actually seeing it.
At times we need God’s direction more than His mighty acts
THE KEY TO RECEIVING FROM GOD IS BEING COMMITTED TO WHAT HE SAYS.
Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass
- ELIJAH WAS SIMPLY NOT GOING TO GET RAIN AT THAT TIME
How often have you and I been frustrated concerning something we needed God to do?
Instead of getting rain, He Got Direction,
Obeying the command to go to the widow’s home unlocked God’s provision for the prophet.
III. WHEN THE LORD IS NOT MOVING THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE HIM TO – CONSIDER THAT THIS MAY BE A TIME TO SHARPEN YOUR LISTENING SKILLS.
The miracle may be approaching but from a different direction than you anticipated
God had a plan that defied human logic and the human timetable
When you know God has a plan, you’ll do two things:
First, you will “see” beyond what is “seen.”
Second, you will see the significance of obedience.
